October brings clear days, gold-tipped trees and a gentle village rhythm before the first snowfall. The Wednesday market still fills the square with cheese, flowers and charcuterie, and there’s a steady trickle of guided visits and family activities. It’s the calm before ski season—perfect for locking in restaurants, transfers and lessons while the town readies itself for winter.
Lift news first: over in Les Gets, the new Rosta detachable 8-seater chair is planned to open around Christmas 2025, speeding laps on that sector. In Morzine, the long-discussed Express Morzine–Avoriaz (EMA) link remains in proposal/consultation rather than a 2025 build, but it’s back in the local conversation.
Dates are lining up: Avoriaz aims to open on 12 December 2025, with Morzine–Les Gets a week later and a full ramp-up into the festive period. Expect limited pre-openings if conditions play ball. On the hospitality side, Le Tremplin returns after a major revamp—expanded terrace, two-floor restaurant and a refreshed events programme at the foot of Le Pleney—so sunny lunches and après should feel punchier once the lifts spin! New accommodation is set to open later in the year - watch this space for updates. Gear fans can circle Rock On Snow in mid-December for free tests and season-kickoff energy.
For now, it’s mellow hikes, lakeside picnics and planning mode, whilst the temperatures keep lowering. The moment the first flakes land, Morzine flips from easy autumn to full winter buzz—so book the key pieces now and enjoy the switch.
